One of my favorite DIY beauty hacks, is making my own makeup remover wipes. The easiest way to remove your makeup before bed is with a nifty, ready to go wipe. While there are many facial wipes that are on the market, all touting various benefits. From additional hydration, exfoliation, reducing puffiness, etc. While all great benefits, the likelihood that these wipes help with these is actually pretty minimal. As well as these are great bonuses coming at a price. These various wipes can range in cost from $5 through $18, for anywhere from 20 to 40 wipes. That’s a cost of about 25 cents per wipe. While not a huge cost, it does add up. This is a very simple recipe that doesn’t cost very much (about $0.10 per wipe, dependent upon what you spend for the ingredients), and the wonderful thing some of the ingredients are just household items.
Combine the following and mix well:
- Paper towels (I cut a paper towel roll in half)
- Reusable Container
- 2 tsp Soap (I used Pure Castille Soap)
- 1/2 a cup Distilled Water
- 2 tablespoons witch hazel
- 2 tablespoons oil such as almond, extra virgin olive oil or coconut
- 1-2 drops tea tree oil (for anti-bacterial properties)
Once mixed, with the paper towels in the reusable container pour the mixture over the towels. Give the towels some time to soak through, once complete, pull out the cardboard roll and pull up the first sheet through the middle, and Voila! DIY Makeup Remover Wipes!
