A Life Jess Ordinary

NYX – Love in Paris “Mon Cherie” Eye Shadow Palette review

I would like to start off by saying that I am sorry for the long hiatus.  Between work, the holidays, and travel (there will be a post soon on where I went), I didn’t have a lot of time to create posts.  But going forward in 2015, I will be posting much more often and hope to have a few more posts up in the near future.

Thank you for taking the time to read A Life Jess Ordinary!

While on a work trip to Virginia, I stopped at a Wegman’s (it’s a supermarket on the east coast that I love, kind of like a Byerlys, for those in Midwest, but with some better pricing). While browsing the makeup aisle, because you never know where you’ll find your next must have item. I found the NYX, Love in Paris eye shadow palette, and bonus, it was $2.99. I decided to get the palette to hopefully be able to have a quick grab palette with good options for short trips. This will be a quick review with my first impressions and if I would purchase again.

At first glance, there are a great range of colors both matte and with shimmer.  The packaging is cute and very sturdy, which is great for travel.

My first impression for this palette, honestly wasn’t a good one.  I think that although this is has a great mix of colors my first actual use was less than stellar.  There was a lot of fall out and the colors weren’t as pigmented as I had hoped.  The pictures I took were the very first use and it was difficult to get the look that I wanted.

***Just an FYI, Please be aware that I was growing out my eyebrows at the time and in the photos they are in a horrible state***

After using this palette a few more times over the course of the last few weeks, I realized there must’ve been a protective layer because as I used the shadows more the pigment got better and there was less fall out.  Now its a pretty good go-to.

My overall review of the NYX – Love In Paris  “Mon Cherie” Palette is that it is a good go-to that after getting through the protective layer is a fairly well pigmented shadow with minimal fall out and a great selection of shades.

I would purchase this again, and especially at $2.99.

What are your thoughts and have you tried any other NYX products that you would suggest?
